Homeschool

As most of you are aware, we started homeschooling in February. Our kids are 6, 4 & 2. Our family has definitely gained a sense of unity & purpose since we've made the switch & we are all enjoying the journey. I made a blog showing what we are working on each week that is open to everyone which you can access through this blog under my Fav Blogs, Crosby Homeschool Adventure or by going to crosbyhomeschooladventure.blogspot.com (no www. before the address). Check it out sometime!

Seriously Adorable!

Alaina has been trying to potty train herself the last few weeks. It's mommy's thats not ready this time around! I finally caught her with the camera to capture her adorableness in action!

Presenting...Cocoa Bean! This pretty kitty is a long haired calico w/ lots of spunk! We adopted her through NOAH (a local pet adoption shelter). We've been wanting to get a cat for some time now and I'm definitely seeing the benefits of a cat vs. a dog.

She's very social - following us around from room to room to be close to us & hang out. She loves nooks she can rest in & prefers the carpet to a soft, squishy bed anyday. Her fav hobbies include batting and chasing a pebble across the hardwood floor & lounging about.

One of Michaels first observations was that "she's a girl cat with a mustache like a man". With her crazy character, she'll fit right in around here :)

McClinchy Mile 2011

These are our pre-ride photos. I didn't take my camera with me on the ride, so this is all I've got :) Brian tackled 47 miles on the Granite Falls loop and it was a tough ride! I went the 34 mile Stanwood loop w/ 3 friends, plus 14 miles of another loop. So 48 miles! I was exhausted for sure, but felt pretty good for just riding a half century.

I'm so proud of myself :) It's a strange reality that I've become one of those people who accomplish these monsterously physical tasks. I always thought others that did that were seriously awesome. And here I am, riding with the pack :) Well, trying to keep up anyway!

Happy #6 Michael!

This sad cake started out as a really cool idea! That blue blob in the corner was going to be a night fury from How to Train Your Dragon, but it didn't cooperate. What cha gonna do!

Michael is blessed with some good friends who as an added bonus - have great taste in toys. He got bionicals, transformers, and legos. The boy was in heaven!

Michael is the sweetest boy I know. Eager to learn & anxious to please. He has wild side, full of energy & craziness. But he's an attentive big brother and a loving son. I love my boy.

Seattle to Portland 2011

It's on! I'm teaming up with a few other gals in the stake to ride the 204 mile (2 day) STP ride in July. I've signed up for my first group ride in March called the McClinchy Mile & we plan on doing the 35 mile loop. Brian's planning to do the 1 day STP ride & it will be a race to the finish on Saturday (the girls & I are doing Fri & Sat rather than the traditional Sat & Sun). Should be fun!!!

HOMESCHOOLING!!!

Yes, the Crosby family is homeschooling! Just finishing week 2 & loving it! It was a decision based on what more we could offer our kids by them staying home to learn, not because of any anti-public school thing. We really do believe the school system does the very best it can with what it is given. But we are pro-education in a more controlled & involved way now. It's an adventure & I'm sure I'll have some real doozy stories later :)

These pics are showing what I do to get a little more cooperation sometimes. These transformers would have let Michael have it if he didn't finish his assignment ;)

Queen Esther

Primary Activity - we acted out scripture stories. Michael was the king of Samaria & Alaina got to be Queen Esther. She bawled when she had to give her costume back.

Michael picking out his queen.
