Mt. Rushmore is only 30 miles outside of Rapid City. As one of the 7 wonders of the world, it was a MUST SEE while in SD. Much more incredible in person as you can imagine. There's a path that lets you get closer to the monument, and even one pic I got from a crack inside a small cave. Spectacular experience. The rocks you see under the heads are debris from the artist sculpting the faces.
