The STP

HE DID IT!!! 204 miles from Seattle to Portland in just over 12.4 hours total ride time! Wow. He had over 2 hrs of pit stops too, so total time from start (4:45am) to finish (8pm) was about 15 hours. There are 9600 riders that bike this event annually, and only about 2000 that tackle it in one day. Most stay in Centralia, WA, the half way point, Saturday night, and then finish the race on Sunday. Brian called me when he reached Centralia and said he felt great. He thought for sure the next 100 miles would go just as smoothly. But by mile 185 he said he was delirious. He saw tons of riders pulled off the road, throwing up, passed out, calling for their ride to come get them where they laid, etc. He wanted to do the same, but he went on - finishing one of the biggest goals of his life! When he called me to tell me he had finished and that he was OK I cried. I'm just so proud of him! And he was fortunate enough to be able to ride with a guy from our ward and his brother who have both done the race before. They really helped him keep a good pace, not to mention kept him company! Brian amazes me...
